Leathers

VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER

VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER

Our Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather is a classic leather that shows its wear beautifully over time. It is warm, it is strong, and it is personal.  It will not remain pristine and sleek, and although scratching will occur, we do not view these marks as defects. It is completely natural, meaning it is naked, with no synthetic top finishes. The surface of Vegetable Tanned leather will change over time, and exposure to water will create spots. While we recommend avoiding rain, the patina created by daily wear-and-tear is meant to change and evolve over time. Our natural colorways such as Cammello and Brandy will slowly darken over time due to exposure to the sun.

As pictured above, please note the Cammello Antico bucket on the left in its original unworn condition, and on the right, the level of darkening after one year of regular use.

For advice on general maintenance and care, the best option is to take your bag to a trusted leather goods repair shop. To care for the bag at home, you can find commercial products in drugstores to clean and polish the leather.

CALF LEATHER

CALF LEATHER

Our Italian Calf Leather is a smooth, refined leather with a polished finishing. Although recognized for its longevity, it is still prone to occasional scratching if not handled with proper care.  We recommend occasionally treating this leather with a leather conditioner, which will help keep it hydrated.  To prevent the leather from developing marks, we recommend avoiding exposure to abrasive surfaces and always taking care to store the item properly in its dust bag when not in use. For lighter colors in this material we also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the leather could be subject to color transfer or stains.

SAFFIANO LEATHER

SAFFIANO LEATHER

Our Italian Saffiano Leather is a coated leather with a subtle, cross-hatched pattern on its surface. It is a durable and resilient material, resistant to scratching and moisture.  For lighter colors in this material we recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the leather could be subject to color transfer. If the leather develops any scuffs or marks, we recommend lightly cleaning the surface with a damp cloth or treating the leather with a leather conditioner.

SUEDE LEATHER

SUEDE LEATHER

Our Italian Suede Leather is a soft, delicate leather with a velvet like finish. Darker and vibrantly colored suedes may stain lighter colored clothing and other materials if placed in close contact.  To prolong the life of your suede leather product we recommend pre-treating the leather with a suede protectant and avoiding exposure to water or other liquids.  We also recommend occasionally treating the leather with a suede brush, which can help smooth any marks or indentations on the surface.

TUMBLE LEATHER

TUMBLE LEATHER

Our Italian Tumbled Leather is a soft, rich leather with a pebbled finish, achieved through a natural softening process called milling.  It is strong and resilient; though general leather care is still recommended.  We recommend occasionally treating this leather with a leather conditioner, which will help keep it hydrated. For lighter colors in this material we recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the leather could be subject to color transfer or stains.

SPAZZOLATO

SPAZZOLATO

Our Italian Spazzolato Leather is a high quality Calf Leather that has been polished with a rich wax, deepening the color and adding a beautiful shine.  Recognized for its longevity and being largely water resistant, it is still prone to occasional scratching if not handled with proper care.  If the leather develops any scuffs or marks, we recommend lightly cleaning the surface with a damp cloth or treating the leather with a leather conditioner.

PATENT LEATHER

PATENT LEATHER

Our Italian Patent Leather is a coated leather with a shiny, lustrous finish.  The surface is largely water resistant, making care simple.  We do however recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and storing the item inside its dust bag. Patent can absorb foreign dye or ink if in contact with loose dyes.  If the leather develops any scuffs or marks, we recommend lightly cleaning the surface with a damp cloth.

SILK

SILK

Our Italian Silk is a natural, beautiful material. Though silk is a strong fiber, it has a delicate surface, and is therefore prone to potential staining or water damage.  We recommend avoiding exposure to abrasive surfaces to prevent pulls or tears in the fabric. We also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the silk could be subject to color transfer or stains.

GROSGRAIN

GROSGRAIN

Our Italian Grosgrain is a classic woven material with a beautiful shine.  Its corded texture adds a richness and durability, however the surface is delicate and therefore prone to potential staining or water damage.  We recommend avoiding exposure to abrasive surfaces to prevent pulls or tears in the fabric.  We also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the grosgrain could be subject to color transfer or stains.

CANVAS

CANVAS

Our Italian Woven Cotton Canvas is both lightweight and sturdy, and has been trimmed with our signature Vegetable Tanned Leather.  We recommend pre-treating your canvas items with a spray repellent in order to help avoid any stains or permanent marks, as well as avoiding exposure to abrasive surfaces to prevent pulls or tears in the fabric.  We also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the canvas could be subject to color transfer or stains.
